OUR IMPACT

ABOUT SAMARITANS

Samaritans is the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. Connecting people in crisis with trained volunteers who will always listen. People calling for change with those who need to listen. People who’ve been there before with those struggling now.

Every 10 seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help. Thousands of volunteers from all walks of life are there every day and night. Listening without judgment. Whoever you are. Whatever your background, beliefs, faith or identity.

Samaritans make sure there’s always someone to listen if you’re in crisis or feeling suicidal. They unite to raise awareness of people’s experiences, create partnerships and campaign for suicide prevention.

Every hour. Every day. Every life. If you believe the power of human connection can prevent suicide, join us.

Let’s prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow’s too late.

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. In 2024, Samaritans volunteers responded to more than 3.3 million calls for help.

Suicidal feelings were expressed during almost 1 in 4 calls for help where emotional support was provided.

Every 90 minutes in the UK, someone dies by suicide. But talking saves lives.

ABOUT THE PUSH-UP CHALLENGE

The Push-Up Challenge started in 2017 in Perth, Australia, with four friends, some push-ups and a desire to get fit. That small idea has grown into a global movement, inspiring people to get fit, connect, and support mental health.

Globally The Push-Up Challenge has now raised over £34 million for mental health and helped more than 1 million participants improve their physical and mental fitness. Now it’s your turn to unite in the push for better and raise much-needed funds for mental health.

In 2026, we're launching in the UK and New Zealand, uniting more communities across the world to push for better mental health.

We've come a long way - from four friends to a community of over 1 million. Together, we’re making a difference.
