Jade & Nanny's Challenge 💃🏻🫶🏻🧓🏻✨️🕊🤍💫
I'm completing 2,000 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness of mental health and fundraise for Samaritans. Please support me as I push for better mental health from 5-27 February. All proceeds enable Samaritans to answer more calls for help from those at crisis point or feeling suicidal.
What I think:
I think mental health is still an unhealed subject for most people. We're going in the right direction. But, there is always room for added growth in opening up, admitting yourself you & you're loved one is struggling. Facing it head on, instead of making yourself smaller to make other people comfortable.
Life can be easy or it can be hard. And, those difficult times. We all face and have faced. We're forced to face them head on, whilst the world still spins & jump many hurdles after another.
And, sometimes. It can feel like you're drowning & you can't catch a breath. Trust me. I've been there too.
I'm bubbly & energetic. And, some say:
An energizer bunny battery that never runs out of charge. But, just like you. I struggle too. And, that was hard to admit for sometime & I would face denial, self isolation & I would just need space to heal again.
Mental health can be a small thing to others and a big thing too.
This can be small. Like small changes to your routine: such as, changes in your friendships & relationships & career path changes. This can feel slightly overwhelming at first. But the needle on the haystack theory. It's real.
To something more drastic, like: illness of yourself or a loved one. Mental & physical health invisible & visible.
Mental health & physical health.. the majority of the time work together or should I say against each other.
You or a loved one can be battling with something mentally and it turns physically or vice versa.
A perfect example of this is either watching your own mental health & physical health deteriorate in front of your eyes through illness, heartbreak, grief or maybe the needle in the hay stack happened & everything just got too overwhelming & you have a lil or big breakdown. That's okay too.
All these matter. All these are valid. Your feelings & your loved ones feelings are valid.
We're human at the end of the day. We're not meant to have it all together, all the time.
This challenge has come at a perfect time. Because going back to the gym. A YEAR LATER. Thinking I was fully healed. Not fully convinced. But yeah. A cardio and & lower body taster session. Proved otherwise.
Currently I'm unable to train my lower body as I'd hope to be able to train my FULL body. At the moment there are limitations. And that's perfectly okay.
So to prevent another first aid related scenario and have people worry and likely make my tremors worse. I'll be focusing on this challenge.
I used to love push ups. Now I can't do one. The most I done in one session is 15 and that's when my big brother told me to. I slowly built it up. So, I'll work to that again. Regression is a mental battle but I won't let it beat me. People go through worse and still make it out on the other side. So why can't I or you?
Don't let it beat you! Whatever is making you feel LESS yourself. Be MORE, Do more & Hold up space. Don't let anything bring you down.. because. This life is temporary. You never know when your time or a loved one is up. And, my favourite quote of all: "This too shall pass". Whether it's happiness or sadness. It all passes. So live in the moment & work on PUSHING through. So here's to me PUSHING through with my PUSH UP Journey.
Here's to my mental health PUSH UP Journey...
So, what will I be doing to support this movement that's close to my heart & soul?
I will be doing push ups throughout the start of FEBRUARY in honour of my nanny.
I lost her from a hard & long battle.. this was the 9th of Feb & her birthday? 15th Feb.
So I'm doing this for HER & ME.
Here's to the DOMS & achey body that will hit me like a brick. Cus it's been a WHOLE YEAR since anything health & gym & fitness related...
Ich liebe dich, nanny
Always & Forever
