About My Challenge

I’m taking on a challenge that means a lot to me, and I want to be honest about why I’m doing it.

I live with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). It affects my connective tissue, which is found throughout the whole body. So for me, it isn’t just my joints. My joints, muscles, and organs are all impacted, and it can cause real issues day to day. Things like pain, fatigue, flare-ups, and unpredictability can make simple tasks feel harder than they should.

Over time, it can also become more difficult to manage. Repeated injuries, ongoing strain, and the stop-start nature of symptoms can build up, and that can take a toll physically and mentally.

Alongside EDS, I also have severe eosinophilic asthma and several other conditions linked to EDS, plus a thymoma tumour near my heart. It’s a lot to carry, and it affects far more than just the physical side.

I want to say this plainly too. It has impacted my mental health. Living with constant symptoms, setbacks, and uncertainty can wear you down. I’ve been depressed, and some days feel heavy in a way that’s hard to put into words.

That’s why I’m doing this.

I’m proud to be taking on this challenge with my brother and best friend, James. He’s faced his own mental health battles too, and we both know how important it is to have support available when things feel overwhelming.

From 5 to 27 February, I’m completing 2,000 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness of mental health and to fundraise for Samaritans. I’ll be adapting as needed because of EDS and my health, but I’m committed to showing up for this in a way that’s safe and sustainable.

If you’re able to support us, I’d be really grateful. Every donation helps Samaritans answer more calls from people who are struggling, in crisis, or feeling suicidal.

Thank you for reading, sharing, or donating. It genuinely means a lot.

Supporting Samaritans

Samaritans is the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. Connecting people in crisis with trained volunteers who will always listen. People calling for change with those who need to listen. People who’ve been there before, with those struggling now.

Samaritans make sure there’s always someone to listen if you’re in crisis or feeling suicidal. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

By donating, you're helping someone with suicidal thoughts get help when they need it most.
