Tanya Bhanaut

About My Challenge

Hi all, I'm Tanya. I'm completing 2,000 push-ups (knee push-ups, admittedly, as I'm a bit out of practice) in 23 days to raise awareness of mental health and fundraise for Samaritans. Please support me as I push for better mental health from 5-27 February. All proceeds enable Samaritans to answer more calls for help from those at crisis point or feeling suicidal.

Admittedly, I signed up for this challenge on impulse- but issues of mental health and suicide are nonthless deeply important to me.

I've dealt with depression, anxiety, and PTSD as well as suicidal thoughts in the past- all things that are far more common for people with an autism diagnosis. 66% of autistic people have thought about taking their own life, and 35% have tried to do so, so resources like Samaritans are really important to us. Whether you feel up for supporting me with a donation or just cheering me on, I'd encourage you to take a moment to learn a bit about mental health struggles and neurological differences, and to support and speak up for people who experience these things, and to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about us.

Supporting Samaritans

Samaritans is the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. Connecting people in crisis with trained volunteers who will always listen. People calling for change with those who need to listen. People who’ve been there before, with those struggling now.

Samaritans make sure there’s always someone to listen if you’re in crisis or feeling suicidal. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

By donating, you're helping someone with suicidal thoughts get help when they need it most.
